This Privacy Policy explains how the Hiker's Watch Android application ("the app", "we") handles information when you use it.

1. Summary

Hiker's Watch is a simple on-device GPS display tool. We do not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share any personal data with anyone. No accounts, no analytics, no ads, no trackers.

2. Information the app uses

• Location (precise and approximate) — requested from the operating system via the standard Android ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION and ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION permissions.
  • Purpose: to display your current latitude, longitude, altitude, accuracy, and a human-readable address on the screen — the core function of the app.
  • Where it is processed: only on your device, in memory. Location is not written to disk by the app, not sent to any server, and not attached to any identifier.
  • When it is collected: only while the app is in the foreground. Location updates stop when the app is paused or closed.
• Internet (INTERNET permission) — used only so the Android system's Geocoder service can turn your coordinates into a readable address. The Geocoder is provided by the Android operating system / Google Play Services; the app itself does not run a server or send data to us.

3. Data collection and sharing

None. The app collects no data, has no user accounts, and does not share data with any third party.

4. Data retention and deletion

Because the app does not store or transmit personal data, there is nothing to retain and nothing to delete. Removing any cached location on your device is as simple as uninstalling the app from Settings → Apps → Hiker's Watch → Uninstall.

5. Children's privacy

The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from them.

6. Security

Because no personal data leaves your device, there is no network-transmission risk specific to this app. Location data is protected by the Android operating system's standard permission model.

7. Changes to this policy

If this policy is updated, the new version will be posted at the same URL with an updated "Last updated" date above.
